Bio:
Three-year starter who started every game at center over his final two seasons and earned First Team All-Mountain West honors in 2017. Named Second Team All-Mountain West as a junior. Started all 13 games in 2015, splitting time between center and left guard. Made three starts at center as a redshirt freshman before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Pos:
Hard-working blocker with a terrific understanding of the center position. Fires into blocks, plays with a nasty attitude and works through the whistle. Explosive at the point, gets a pad on defenders and effectively knocks them from their angles of attack. Bends his knees, keeps his feet moving and keeps his head on a swivel. Can slide in space and stays square.
Neg:
Not light on his feet for a smaller blocker. Shows stiffness in his game, struggles to adjust and falls off blocks rather than finishing them.
Analysis:
Bennett comes with marginal size and athleticism but has a terrific feel for blocking and could be an inexpensive backup at center or guard.
