Bio:
One-year starter who played only six games in 2017 due to knee and hand injuries but was still named Honorable Mention All-ACC. Earned Second Team All-ACC honors as a sophomore and made 39 tackles with team-high totals in interceptions (five) and pass breakups (nine). Posted 19 tackles and an interception in 12 games in 2015.
Pos:
Talented cornerback with big upside. Quick-footed, stays on the receiver’s hip out of breaks and effectively times his pass defenses. Shows good route recognition in zone coverage, possesses an explosive closing burst and throws his body around the field to make plays. Works well with safeties and brackets receivers over the middle of the field. Plays with balance and body control and displays good hands for the interception. Fires up the field and gives effort defending the run. Resilient and has a short memory.
Neg:
Lacks height. Overmatched against taller receivers. Missed much of the 2017 season due to injury and does not have a large body of work.
Analysis:
Alexander is a feisty cornerback with solid ball skills and the ability to play in a variety of defensive schemes. His height will be an issue for several NFL teams, but he should be very productive as a nickel back at the next level.
