Bio:
Four-year starter who earned First Team All-MVC honors in each of those seasons. Led the conference with 16 touchdown receptions and caught 65 passes for 965 yards as a senior. Named Third Team FCS All-America and led the MVC with 1,316 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns on 78 catches in 2016. Earned First Team FCS All-America honors and led the conference with 1,472 receiving yards on 72 receptions while scoring 11 touchdowns as a sophomore. Named Second Team FCS All-America and earned MVC Freshman of the Year honors in 2014 and led the conference with 1,404 receiving yards and 16 scores on a team-high 73 catches.
Pos:
Large, game-controlling receiver with limited speed. Fluid, nicely times receptions and gets vertical to high point the ball over defenders. Adjusts and contorts in midair, looks the ball into his hands and almost always wins out for contested passes. Comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, uses his frame as an advantage and plays smart football. Uses his hands to separate from defenders, displays outstanding focus and gives effort in all areas. Solid downfield blocker.
Neg:
Really doesn’t display naturally soft hands or consistently snatch the ball cleanly from the air. Not a flexible or agile wideout and struggles to get down to grab low throws. Displays limited quickness and speed.
Analysis:
Wieneke has the size and ability to be a possession receiver at the next level but must fine tune his game and improve his pass-catching skill.
