Four-year starter who earned First Team All-AAC honors in 2016 after leading FBS with 158 receptions, ranking second with 1,746 yards and adding eight touchdowns. Tied for the AAC lead with 98 catches as a junior, racking up 1,099 yards and five touchdowns and being named Second Team All-AAC. Ranked second on the team with 81 receptions in 2014, posting 830 yards and five touchdowns. Made eight starts as a true freshman and caught 62 passes for 604 yards and five scores.
Tremendously productive receiver who has been on a straight shot north up draft boards. Fluid, smooth and natural. Displays tremendous focus as well as concentration, fights to come away with the reception and wins out for contested passes. Possesses terrific quickness in his game, plays with balance as well as body control and consistently extends to make the reception away from his frame. Smooth releasing off the line of scrimmage, quickly gets into breaks then stays low on exit. Comes back to the ball or works across the field to make himself an available target. Uses his frame to shield away defenders, effectively uses the sidelines and looks the ball into his hands. Makes a lot of acrobatic receptions with defenders draped on him. Possesses soft and strong hands.
Despite his 40 time lacks the second gear and does not present himself as a deep threat. Has a thin build.
Jones was very productive at East Carolina then had a strong performance during Senior Bowl week and capped it off with a terrific workout at the combine. He’s a natural pass catcher with the ability to line up in a variety of NFL systems and should develop into a starter as he physically matures and improves his playing strength.
