Bio:
Two-year starter who made 51 tackles (three for loss) and missed four games with a lower-body injury as a senior. Recorded 64 tackles (six for loss) with two interceptions and one forced fumble and missed one game with a concussion in 2016. Started four games and posted 34 tackles as a sophomore. Missed most of the 2014 season after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed injury.
Pos:
Underrated linebacker who plays terrific assignment football. Relatively athletic, covers a lot of area and moves well laterally in pursuit of the action. Gets out to the flanks in pursuit, displays footwork in reverse and possesses good change of direction. Instinctive and effectively reads and diagnoses plays. Works hard to get involved in the action.
Neg:
Struggles to take on and shed blocks. Does not have a big body of work, was never a consistent starter and turned in spotty production.
Analysis:
Dotson is a solid run-and-chase linebacker who is very effective in pursuit. He plays to his athletic numbers and has a real chance to make it at the next level if he produces on special teams.
