Bio:
Two-year starter who transferred to BYU from the University of Utah after his freshman season. Was awarded First Team College Sports Madness Preseason All-America honors before the 2016 season. Was invited to the NFL Combine and the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Was named Second Team Phil Steele All-Independent. Finished his career with 139 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
Pos:
Hard-working, run-defending middle linebacker who played on the outside last season. Breaks down well, plays with proper lean and works his hands throughout the action. Strong, forceful on the blitz and defeats blocks on his way to the ball carrier. Relentless, intense and plays through the whistle. Slides to the outside in pursuit of the action, scrapes well laterally and shows a good head for the ball. Remains disciplined with assignments and effectively quarterbacks the defense.
Neg:
Not really smooth or fluid. Lacks great pursuit speed. Average ball skills in coverage.
Analysis:
Langi is an underrated middle linebacker with potential as a two-down defender. He offers starting potential at the next level and should be an asset on special teams.
