Pos:
Former Missouri lineman who has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his college career. Plays with a tremendous amount of quickness, effectively uses his hands and keeps his feet moving. Gets a lot of momentum going up the field, shows explosiveness and knocks tackles off the line with tremendous hand punch. Bends off the edge, easily changes direction and moves well in every area of the field. Focused on or double-teamed by opponents.
Neg:
Lacks strength at the point of attack and is slow getting off blocks. Was used more in a rotational role last season and was not a consistent starter. Has been up and down throughout his college career.
Analysis:
Brantley is a defensive lineman who passes the eyeball test and occasionally shows the ability to be a dominant force. He offers possibilities as a two-gap end or conventional defensive tackle but must improve his playing strength and -- more than anything else -- the consistency of his game.
