Bio:
Three-year starter who earned Second Team All-Big Ten in each of his final two seasons at Northwestern. Made 78 tackles with two interceptions and nine pass breakups in 2017. Led the Wildcats with 108 tackles (six for loss) and posted two interceptions and seven PBUs as a junior. Finished second on the team with 87 tackles (4.5 for loss) and broke up five passes in 2015. Made five starts as a redshirt freshman and recorded 51 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups.
Pos:
Nice-sized safety who displays a complete game. Plays smart, instinctive and disciplined football. Breaks down well, effectively reads the action and quickly makes his way up the field to defend the run. Explosive at the point, squares into tackles and wraps up ball carriers. Effectively tracks the ball in deep center field, has a nice move to the throw and shows good hands for the interception. Displays a burst of speed, flashes on the scene and quickly moves sideline to sideline.
Neg:
Comes off a disappointing senior season during which he struggled with injury. Does a bit of face guarding in man-coverage situations.
Analysis:
Igwebuike was very productive at the college level but failed to meet expectations last season for a variety of reasons. He offers a terrific game and will be available in the later rounds but could eventually develop into a starter at the next level.
