Athletic small-school quarterback with poor size and average arm strength. Patient in the pocket, scans the field and knows where his receivers are. Elusive, easily escapes the rush and gets outside the pocket to make the throw on the move. Accurate, displays a sense of timing and anticipation and doesn’t make receivers work hard for the reception. Throws with an over-the-top delivery, puts air under corner or fade patterns and leads by example. Poised under the rush, senses pressure and steps up to avoid defenders.
Rarely takes snaps from under center and is primarily a shotgun quarterback. Benefited from a wide-open system at Central Missouri. Lacks a big-time arm and cannot drive deep passes. Does not possess great pocket size or stature.
Fugate was very productive on the small-school level and shows a good head for the game but lacks the arm strength to be anything other than a third quarterback at the next level.
