Bio:
Three-year starter who led BYU in tackles in each of his final two seasons. Made 87 tackles (nine for loss) with one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and five pass breakups in 2017. Recorded 86 tackles (10.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and six PBUs as a junior. Posted 66 tackles (11.5 for loss), four sacks and two interceptions in 2015. Made 22 tackles with one interception as a true freshman.
Pos:
Athletic three-down linebacker who’s very effective in space. Remains disciplined with assignments, does not bite on ball fakes and displays an impressive combination of quickness and explosion. Gets depth on pass drops, covers a good amount of area on the field and stays on the receiver’s hip out of breaks. Shows ability in coverage, fluidly moves in every direction and quickly picks up assignments.
Neg:
Not an overly physical defender. Not a stout tackler. Struggles to take on blocks.
Analysis:
Warner is a terrific run-and-chase linebacker who consistently makes positive plays in space. He’s a nickel defender who will be productive during third-down passing situations.
