Two-year starter named Second Team All-SEC in 2016 after leading the conference with 12 touchdown catches, posting 72 receptions for 917 yards. Earned First Team All-SEC honors after breaking the single-season school record with 88 receptions and ranking fourth in the SEC with 1,007 receiving yards while adding five receiving touchdowns. Sophomore totals include 30 catches for 489 yards and five touchdowns. Mississippi State’s all-time leader in receptions (199) and receiving yards (2,528).
Underrated receiver with a solid game. Smooth, uses his hands to separate from defenders and makes the reception in stride. Snatches the ball from the air, shows a degree of quickness in his game and runs solid routes. Displays good hand-eye coordination as well as focus and makes the difficult catch in a crowd. Competes for the contested pass and usually comes away with the ball. Plays smart, tough football and finds the open space in the defense. Used to return punts.
Gets choppy feet running pass routes and needs to gather himself. One-speed wideout lacking a second gear.
Even though there is nothing physically outstanding about his game, Ross is a refined receiver who is well-versed in all areas of the position. He offers enough skill and ability to line up as a third or fourth receiver at the next level and should see action his first year in the league.
