Bio:
Three-year starter who posted 45 tackles (7.5 for loss) and four sacks in 2017. Made 43 tackles (2.5 for loss) and added 2.5 sacks as a junior. Set career highs across the board in 2015 with 51 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles and was named Honorable Mention All-AAC. Started three games as a redshirt freshman and contributed 31 tackles (three for loss).
Pos:
Physically talented defensive tackle prospect with an inconsistent game. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, plays with leverage and shows good change of direction. Works his hands to disengage from opponents, explodes through the gaps and quickly penetrates the line of scrimmage. Possesses excellent size and shows athleticism.
Neg:
Struggles getting off blocks. Consistently controlled by a single opponent. Production has slid the past three seasons.
Analysis:
Fatukasi displayed himself as a legitimate NFL prospect off his sophomore film but never truly elevated his game. While many in the scouting community believe nose tackle is his best position, he lacks the strength at the point of attack and the ability to disengage from blocks to stay at that position. His quickness, change of direction and athleticism will give him an opportunity as a three-technique tackle in a conventional four-man line.
