Three-year starter who earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 honors in 2016 after making 31 tackles with two interceptions and nine pass breakups. Started three games in 2015 before suffering a Lisfranc injury and undergoing surgery. Named Second Team All-Pac-12 as a junior, tallying 53 tackles (three for loss) with an interception and eight pass breakups. Earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 in 2013 with 52 tackles and four PBUs. Suffered a torn pec while bench pressing at his March pro day.
Consistent cornerback swiftly moving up draft boards. Plays with terrific instincts, awareness and discipline. Engages receivers at the line of scrimmage, stays on their hips out of breaks and has an explosive burst to the action. Effective in man coverage, stays with opponents down the middle of the field and positions himself to defend the throw. Consistently gets his head back around tracking the pass in the air, does a good job reading routes and anticipates what the quarterback will do. Works to get off blocks and make plays against the run.
Prefers to side shuffle and must improve his backpedal. Occasionally slow out of his transition. Has struggled in zone coverage on occasion.
Entering the season Moreau was stamped as a free-agent prospect by NFL scouts, but his solid senior year coupled with a tremendous showing in pre-draft workouts has the senior closing in on Round 1. Ultimately he’s a second-day prospect who could develop into a starter in a man system or backed off the line of scrimmage.
