Bio:
Four-year starter who earned three First Team All-PFL honors and one honorable mention. Earned Drake's Johnny Bright MVP Award and Second Team AFCA All-America honors in 2016. Received ADA FCS All-America, Third Team AP FCS All-America and STATS Third Team FCS All-America honors after his junior year. Finished his career with 190 receptions for 2,253 yards and 21 touchdowns. Received invites to both the Senior Bowl and the Shrine Game.
Pos:
Athletic pass-catching tight end who is developing into a complete player at the position. Fluid releasing off the line scrimmage, runs effective routes and separates from defenders. Quickly gets into breaks, stays low on exit and extends or exposes himself to the big hit in order to make the catch. Contorts or adjusts then extends his hands and makes the reception away from his frame. Gets up in a crowd and competes to come away with the difficult catch. Gives effort blocking and gets admirable results.
Neg:
Average quickness in his game. Does not show a great burst of speed. Must improve his blocking strength.
Analysis:
Saubert was very productive on the small-school level and had a stellar week of practices at the Shrine Game. He’s a gifted tight end with a large upside and a middle-round choice who could eventually develop into a productive No. 2 tight end.
