Athletic and explosive defensive tackle prospect whose draft stock has been on a straight line north. Fires off the snap with a tremendous first step, plays with exceptional pad level and keeps his feet moving. Attracts a lot of attention in the middle of the line drawing double-team blocks, yet plays hard and holds his ground. Stout at the point, fires through gaps and proves tough to handle. Shows pass-rush skill on the inside and can change direction then slide down the line to make plays in pursuit.
Has an injury history. Struggled with weight issues in the past. Oftentimes gets beaten by blocks if he does not get the first step on opponents.
Vanderdoes is powerful and athletic and plays with great explosion and intensity. If he stays healthy and continues to progress on the field, he offers starting potential on Sundays.
