Bio:
Three-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and made 71 catches for 816 yards and seven touchdowns in 2017. Caught 57 passes for 669 yards and eight TDs as a junior. Missed the 2015 season due to a back injury and redshirted. Made six starts and posted 20 receptions for 312 yards and two scores as a sophomore.
Pos:
Big-bodied possession receiver who consistently comes away with difficult receptions. Plays like a big, strong receiver, boxes out opponents and out-muscles defenders to come away with receptions. Stays low out of breaks, extends his hands and consistently makes receptions away from his frame. Strong after the catch and shows the ability to break tackles and pick up positive yardage. Nicely adjusts and contorts to errant throws and makes deep receptions in stride. Gives effort as a blocker and gets results.
Neg:
Lacks a quick release off the line of scrimmage and has limited burst.
Analysis:
Cantrell is an underrated pass catcher who offers possibilities as a fifth wideout at the next level and should lend a helping hand on third down and in the red zone.
