Pos:
Quick, explosive three-technique tackle with playmaking ability. Athletic, agile and fires off the snap with a great first step. Fundamentally sound, shows tremendous technical skill with his hands and consistently penetrates gaps behind the line of scrimmage. Plays with terrific pad level, gets leverage on opponents and displays a variety of moves to shed blocks. Possesses a closing burst, effectively rushes the passer on the inside and easily changes direction to pursue plays outside the box.
Neg:
Lacks dominant lower-body strength. Easily tied up by blocks. Lacks size and bulk.
Analysis:
Jones rebounded after disappointing 2017 season and turned in a tremendous junior campaign. He's an athletic lineman with possibilities as a three-technique tackle, a conventional tackle in a four-man line or even a two-gap end in certain schemes. He possesses tremendous upside and is one of the more overlooked defensive line prospects in this year’s draft. If Jones continues to progress from last season, he will be a longtime starter in the next level.
