Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-America honors and made 88 tackles (11 for loss) with five sacks, two interceptions -- both of which he returned for touchdowns -- and five pass breakups in 2017. Posted 54 tackles (10 for loss), 2.5 sacks and one interception as a junior. Combined for 66 tackles (6.5 for loss) and one sack in his first two seasons with the Tigers
Pos:
Undersized linebacker who plays big football. Breaks down well and displays good change of direction and tremendous speed in lateral pursuit. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, covers a good amount of area on the field and quickly moves to the action. Gets depth on pass drops, shows terrific ball skills and makes positive plays against running backs and tight ends in coverage. Fires up the field to fill gaps in run defense and sells out on the blitz. Remains disciplined with assignments and does not bite on ball fakes or get caught out of position. Closes to the action with a burst of speed.
Neg:
Lacks bulk. Engulfed at the point and gets caught up in the trash. More of a drag-down tackler.
Analysis:
O'Daniel has size and scheme limitations but will do very well in a one-gap system where he is primarily asked to play in space.
