Bio:
Three-year starter at left guard who made starts at left tackle and right guard as a true freshman. First Team All-American in 2016. Second Team All-ACC in 2015. Started all 13 games as a sophomore in 2014.
Pos:
Dominant college lineman who showed consistent progress in his game. Explosive, fires into blocks and annihilates opponents. Bends his knees, sets with a wide base and easily anchors in pass protection. Does not give up an inch of ground, knocks defenders off the line and gets movement run blocking. Displays quickness pulling across the line of scrimmage, keeps his head on a swivel and blocks with a nasty attitude.
Neg:
Late and lazy with his hands. Must keep his feet moving throughout the play. Stands to improve his blocking balance.
Analysis:
Johnson is a strong, nasty lineman who dominates opponents when he flips on the switch. He’s a better athlete than advertised and could line up in a variety of systems on Sundays. We expect Johnson to quickly break into a starting lineup as a rookie in the NFL.
