Bio:
Junior college transfer who started two of his three seasons at Ole Miss. Caught 24 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns as a senior despite missing four games with a groin injury and underwent season-ending sports hernia surgery in November. Made 41 receptions for 709 yards and five TDs in 2016. Posted 21 catches for 386 yards and two scores as a sophomore.
Pos:
One-time highly rated receiver who comes off a disappointing season. Tough, extends his hands to make receptions away from his frame and gets clobbered by defenders but holds onto the ball. Makes difficult catches with defenders draped on him, snatches the ball cleanly from the air and consistently makes receptions with his hands.
Neg:
Struggles with jams at the line of scrimmage. Not a sharp route runner. Eases into breaks and is slow on exit. Does not play to his 40 time.
Analysis:
After transferring from junior college and turning in a productive and promising 2016 campaign, Gray was graded as a potential mid-round choice by scouts entering his senior season. His game took a step back last year, and he must now make his way up through the ranks. Despite the inconsistency, he has the physical ability to develop into a fifth receiver.
