Bio:
Four-year starter who earned First Team All-OVC honors and led the conference with six interceptions while tying for the team lead with seven pass breakups and making 33 tackles in 2017 to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Named Second Team All-OVC and led the conference with 15 pass breakups while pacing Murray State with three INTs and adding 50 tackles as a junior. Led the team with nine pass breakups and posted 29 tackles in 2015. Recorded 64 tackles, one interception and five PBUs as a true freshman.
Pos:
Small-school cornerback who came out of nowhere last season to make himself a draftable commodity. Fluid flipping his hips off the line, displays good quickness and effectively tracks the pass in the air. Gets vertical and contorts and adjusts to defend throws. Plays with excellent body control and balance and shows good hands for the interception. Stays on the receiver’s hip out of breaks and has a burst to the ball out of his plant.
Neg:
Possesses average instincts. Slow to diagnose. Deep speed is a concern.
Analysis:
Wade was not mentioned by scouts entering the season but did enough in 2017 and at the Senior Bowl to get late-round consideration. He’s a press cornerback who can be used in dime situations.
