Bio:
Junior college transfer who made 30 tackles (three for loss) with two sacks as a first-year starter in 2016. Started three games as a junior in 2016, posting 40 tackles (5.5 for loss) and four sacks.
Pos:
Gap-occupying defensive tackle with a short, squatty build. Plays with leverage and proper pad level and keeps his feet moving. Quickly locates the ball handler, slides off blocks laterally and gives effort. Fires off the snap with an explosive step, attracts double-team blocks in the middle of the line and is impossible to move off the point.
Neg:
Small-area lineman with limited athleticism. Poor pass rusher. Does not make many plays on the ball.
Analysis:
Jones flashed dominance at Mississippi and offers possibilities at nose tackle or as a gap-occupying lineman in a four-man front.
