Pos:
Undersized slot receiver who also doubles as a dangerous return specialist. Fluid, smooth and agile. Easily adjusts to the errant throw, displays good timing and possesses good hand-eye coordination. Always finds ways to separate from defenders and makes himself an available target. Reliable, makes the over-the-shoulder reception downfield and keeps his focus. Consistent hands catcher who always extends to make the reception away from his frame. Displays outstanding short-area quickness and the ability to create when the ball is in his hands.
Neg:
More quick than fast and lacks a second gear. Not a real physical receiver.
Analysis:
Johnson has all the elements to make a roster as a fourth receiver and return specialist. He can line up in the slot or out to the flanks and be used to run reverses on occasion. While I grade him is a late-round pick, the renewed importance of slot receivers in the league may push Johnson into the middle rounds of this year’s draft.
