Four-year starter who earned All-American honors as both a junior and a senior. Finished second in FBS with eight interceptions in 2015 and had 14 career interceptions. Made 58 tackles as a senior with seven pass breakups after recording 72 tackles and breaking up 13 passes the year before.
One-time highly rated cornerback prospect whose game has leveled off the past two years. Instinctive, does a solid job reading as well as diagnosing the action and effectively times pass defenses. Mixes it up with receivers, quickly tracks the ball in the air and shuts down opponents. Effective covering receivers on crossing patterns, fluid flipping his hips and easily transitions running downfield with opponents. Shows a burst out of his plant, plays with a degree of quickness and is quick closing on the ball. Impacted the game as a return specialist last year.
Deep speed is a concern. Was off his game last season, losing concentration, blowing coverage assignments and giving up a good amount of receptions.
After his sophomore season, King looked like a lock first-round selection but his game has since leveled off and even regressed in some areas. Teams are concerned about his deep speed, focus and ability to make plays with his back to the ball. Rated as a safety by some franchises, King needs to get his game back on track to have a career at the next level.
