Bio:
Two-year starter who earned Second Team All-SEC honors and led LSU with 237 carries for 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. Named First Team All-SEC and led the conference with 1,387 rushing yards on 183 carries while scoring 15 touchdowns in 2016. Carried 51 times for 436 yards and three scores as a true freshman.
Pos:
Athletic ball carrier who’s developing a complete game. Patient, waits for blocks to develop and picks his way through traffic. Displays solid short-area quickness with the ability to cut back against the grain, makes defenders miss in the open field and shows the agility necessary to turn the corner. Possesses tremendous burst, explodes through running lanes and beats defenders into the open field. Effectively follows blocks everywhere on the field, gets a lot of momentum going and falls forward when tackled. Solid pass catcher with the ability to adjust to errant throws and snatch the ball away from his frame. Effectively helps the quarterback sell ball fakes and picks up blocking assignments well.
Neg:
Not a truly creative ball carrier and needs to gather into his cuts to change direction. Never showed himself as a perimeter ball carrier.
Analysis:
Guice was a consistent running back at LSU the past two seasons, broke games open with long runs and picked up tough yardage. He has the potential to develop into a feature runner at the next level and could surprise as a rookie in the proper system.
