Productive receiver who was a go-to-guy opponents struggle to contain. Plays with a smooth style, easily moves about the field and nicely makes the reception in stride. Quickly releases off the line and fires into pass routes then separates from defenders on exit. Consistently extends his hands and makes the reception away from his frame. Plays with balance and body control and displays outstanding concentration. Possesses strong hands and plucks the ball from the air. Comes back to the ball, uses his frame to shield away defenders and also uses the sidelines well. Gives effort blocking downfield.
Has a thin build and struggles in battles. Does not always play to his 40 time or display himself as a legitimate downfield threat. Will struggle in crowds for the contested pass at the next level. Has a host of off-the-field issues. Has left NFL decision makers scratching their heads with his approach to the draft process since January.
Westbrook is a terrific athlete and an outstanding pass catcher who’s very natural in all aspects of the position. If he’s focuses on his game and mature as a person, he will produce at the next level as a slot receiver, return specialist and occasional runner on reverses. Otherwise he’s a prospect who may struggle to live up to the awesome potential he possesses.
