Pos:
Feisty, aggressive cornerback who was a full-time starter for Georgia the past two seasons and totaled 24 pass breakups and five interceptions. Physical, mixes it up with receivers throughout the route and beats them down to defend the throw. Athletic, displays good change of direction and moves with speed to any area of the field. Stays on the receiver’s hip out of breaks, displays a nice move to the throw and possesses a closing burst. Quick to diagnose the action, fast up the field to defend screen passes and run plays and aggressive in all areas of his game.
Neg:
Slow to react to receivers’ moves off the line, slow to transition with opponents and does a lot of faceguarding. Very slow to get his head back around to locate the ball and loses a half-step as well as positioning when he attempts to turn his head away from the receiver.
Analysis:
Baker is a moderately sized cornerback who plays big, physical football but must improve his skills. He's limited when he's not facing the action, and Baker must play in a zone system or backed off the line of scrimmage. While many believe he has starting potential on the outside in the NFL, I firmly believe Baker is a nickel back at best.
