Bio:
Four-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-AAC as a senior after catching 59 passes for 886 yards and six touchdowns and earned an invitation to the NFLPA Bowl. Missed the entire 2016 season with a back injury. Caught 58 passes for 705 yards and three scores during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Started the first six games of his career as a true freshman, making 17 receptions for 168 yards and four touchdowns before suffering a season-ending left knee injury.
Pos:
Nice-sized receiver with upside. Fights with his hands to separate from defenders, uses his frame to box out opponents and wins out for contested passes. Consistently comes away with difficult catches and keeps plays in bounds after the catch to pick up positive yardage. Extends his hands to offer the quarterback a target, makes difficult catches in contorted positions and displays excellent focus and concentration.
Neg:
Lacks deep speed and a second gear. Unnecessarily lets passes get inside him at times. Has a prior history of back and knee injuries.
Analysis:
When on the field and healthy, Grayson was very productive for East Carolina. There were times during the 2015 campaign when he looked better than Zay Jones, the Bills’ second-round selection in 2017. He possesses the physical skills but needs to polish his game and pass medical exams to have a chance at the next level.
