Three-year starter who moved from defensive tackle to defensive end as a junior in Dave Aranda’s 3-4 scheme. Recorded 62 tackles (8.5 for loss) and 6.5 sacks. Was indefinitely suspended after being charged in a domestic dispute, but was reinstated after the charges were dropped. Made 41 tackles (nine for loss) with six sacks as a sophomore in 2015. Started the final nine games of his true freshman season and posted 42 tackles (1.5 for loss) and one forced fumble.
Explosive interior defensive tackle who has been a disruptive force on the college level. Plays with balance, body control and terrific leverage. Keeps his pads low to the ground, attracts the attention of opponents and fluidly moves in every direction of the field. Fires through the gaps behind the line of scrimmage, quickly changes direction and easily gets outside the box then down the line in pursuit. Tough to move off the point, works his hands throughout the action and gives effort.
Shows indecision in his game. Displays an inconsistent get-off at the snap. Controlled at the point by a single blocker and very slow to shed.
Godchaux displayed himself as a force on the LSU defensive line and is a prospect who comes with a large upside. He presently projects as a one-gap lineman who should only improve as he physically matures and adds bulk to his frame.
