Packed excellent production into nine career starts at Miami, catching 43 passes for 698 yards and eight touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore in 2016. Made 21 receptions for 362 yards and one touchdown in 2015.
Athletic tight end developing a complete game. Bends his knees, plays with leverage and shows strength at the point. Stay square, turns defenders from the action and gets results blocking. Solid route-runner, quickly gets into breaks and positions himself to make the reception on exit. Comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, displays focus as well as concentration and easily makes the reception on crossing patterns. Looks the ball into his hands, is strong running after the catch and works to pick up as much yardage as possible.
Rough around the edges and very inconsistent. Unnecessarily lets the pass get inside him rather than snatching the ball away from his frame. Average release off the line of scrimmage.
Njoku displayed tremendous progress last season as a sophomore after turning in a solid freshman campaign. He possesses the size and skill to start on Sunday but must improve his overall game and, as far as we are concerned, is not yet NFL-ready.
