Pos:
First-year starter who did a terrific job at the college level but lacks great upside for the NFL. Patient, commands the offense and consistently makes plays. Senses pressure in the pocket and steps up to avoid defenders. Keeps his eyes downfield, goes through progressions and looks for the open target. Relatively accurate in the short and intermediate field and displays good speed on throws. Flashes the ability to put the ball where only his targets have a chance to make the reception. Goes to the checkdown receiver and doesn’t make bad decisions. Elusive with the ability to get outside the pocket and make throws on the move. Tough, stands in the face of pressure and displays good timing on passes. Shows the ability to pick up yardage with his legs.
Neg:
Doesn't have a huge arm and cannot drive his deep passes. Struggled during Shrine Game practices and did not stand out.
Analysis:
Blough was a terrific quarterback for Purdue on the field last season and a true leader off it. He has great intangibles but lacks the physical skills for the next level, although he could get consideration on a practice squad thanks to his intangibles.
