Bio:
Three-year starter who was named OVC Defensive Player of the Year and led the conference in tackles for loss in 2016 and 2017. Led Jacksonville State with seven sacks and three forced fumbles while making 55 tackles (20.5 for loss) as a senior. Led the OVC with 10 sacks and posted 48 tackles (15.5 for loss) as a junior. Tied for the team lead with 19 tackles for loss and recorded 56 tackles and seven sacks in 2015. Made 24 tackles (5.5 for loss) with 3.5 sacks and one interception as a true freshman.
Pos:
Athletic pass rusher with big upside potential. Plays with outstanding leverage and pad level, keeps his feet moving and shows speed up the field. Forceful, can bend off the edge and consistently disrupts the action behind the line of scrimmage. Resilient, easily changes direction and effectively uses his hands. Shows ability to rush the passer out of a three-point stance and standing over tackle. Displays a tremendous closing burst and gives effort against the run.
Neg:
Primarily used up the field and rarely asked to drop into space. Easily knocked from his angle of attack by a single blocker.
Analysis:
Jackson is an athletic and explosive defender who constantly disrupts opponent’s game plans. He has the athleticism to develop into a three-down linebacker, but Jackson should produce as a nickel pass rusher during the early part of his career.
