Bio:
Two-year starter who made 17 tackles (3.5 for loss) with one sack and one forced fumble as a senior. Recorded 23 tackles and one sack in 2016. Posted 22 tackles (five for loss) and one forced fumble as a sophomore.
Pos:
Quick, explosive three-technique tackle prospect. Fires off the snap with a tremendous first step, plays with excellent pad level and moves well about the field. Slices between blocks to penetrate the line of scrimmage, easily changes direction and disrupts the action. Effective with his hands and plays tough, hard-nosed football.
Neg:
Lacks bulk and get engulfed by opponents. Easily controlled by a single blocker. Marginally productive.
Analysis:
Ekuale is an explosive defensive lineman with nice length and growth potential. He must pick up the productivity in camp this summer but offers possibilities as a backup three-technique tackle and grades as a practice-squad prospect at the very least.
