Bio:
Three-year starter who was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in both 2015 and 2016. Tied for third in FBS with seven interceptions as a senior and added 65 tackles and eight pass breakups. Junior totals include eight interceptions, which tied for second in the nation, 75 tackles (5.5 for loss), two forced fumbles and seven PBUs. Broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2014 and earned Second Team All-Mountain West honors, making 58 tackles (four for loss) with one interception and 12 pass breakups.
Pos:
Opportunistic college cornerback with next-level starting potential. Instinctive, plays with a good degree of awareness and effectively reads and diagnoses the action. Displays a sense of timing defending throws, drives to the ball out of his plant and possesses good hands for the interception. Effectively tracks the pass in the air, gets vertical and competes to knock away the ball or intercept the throw. Reads the receiver’s eyes then gets his head back around to locate the pass in the air. Stays on the opponent’s hip out of breaks.
Neg:
Deep speed is a concern. Lacks great size. Stiff and mechanical in his backpedal.
Analysis:
Kazee was very productive on the college level despite being a cornerback who was rarely challenged. He possesses natural ball skills and could eventually start at the next level in a zone system or backed off the line of scrimmage.
