Bio:
Three-year starter who set career highs with 11.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and three pass breakups in 2016 while adding 36 tackles. Posted 39 tackles (9.5 for loss), 3.5 sacks and a team-high eight quarterback hurries as a junior in 2015. Made 24 tackles (four for loss) with 1.5 sacks as a sophomore.
Pos:
Underrated and undersized college defensive end that causes a lot of disruption behind the line of scrimmage. Quick off the snap, plays with proper pad level and makes exceptional use of his hands to protect himself or get off blocks. Rushes the edge with speed, quickly changes direction and plays with balance. Rarely off his feet, possesses a closing burst and shows speed in backside pursuit.
Neg:
Undersized and easily turned from the action or engulfed at the point of attack. Lacks any sort of bulk or playing strength against the run.
Analysis:
Vereen has often gone unnoticed in scouting circles despite three productive seasons at Tennessee. He’s a natural pass rusher who plays faster than his 40 time and offers possibilities at the next level as a third-down specialist and special teams player.
