Four-year starter who earned Second Team All-MAC as a junior, Third Team All-MAC as a senior and Academic All-MAC all four seasons. Threw for 12,894 yards and 88 touchdowns over his Chippewas career, falling 11 yards and 14 touchdowns short of Dan LeFevour for first in Central Michigan history in both categories.
Productive college quarterback with minimal upside for the next level. Patient in the pocket, scans the field and naturally goes to check down receivers if nothing else is available. Stands in the pocket and gets plastered in order to get the ball away. For the most part displays good field vision, a sense of timing and does not have receivers waiting for the ball. Puts air under the deep pass and lets receivers run to the throw. Effectively sets up screen passes, very deliberate and throws a catchable ball. Knows where receivers are on the field, effectively controls the offense and to his credit plays smart football.
Must improve his overall pass placement. Misses open receivers. Does not show great poise under the rush. Lacks a quick release and big time arm. Not a quarterback that picks up yardage with his legs.
Entering the season scouts handed Rush a 3rd round grade, which was never justified. A solid college quarterback, he must improve his accuracy, pass placement and physical strength. A late round selection, Rush may never be anything more than a 3rd signal caller on Sunday.
