Bio:
Three-year starter who earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and made 35 tackles (5.5 for loss) with 1.5 sacks as a senior to earn an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game. Named Third Team All-Big Ten and posted 27 tackles (four for loss), 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 2016. Recorded 31 tackles (three for loss) and two sacks as a sophomore.
Pos:
Nice-sized defensive line prospect with upside. Fires off the snap with an explosive first step, plays with good lean and keeps his feet and hands working throughout the action. Plays assignment football and flows laterally to the action. Quick in all aspects of his game. Stays with the action, plays with a nasty attitude and occupies blockers if he can’t get to the ball carrier.
Neg:
Gets tall as the play proceeds, which negates his size advantage. Controlled by a single opponent. Possesses an average closing burst.
Analysis:
Sheehy possesses the size, growth potential and temperament to play at the next level, but he must learn to play with leverage and improve his strength at the point of attack.
