Most of the media has left Indianapolis despite just one workout being completed, but there’s still a plenty of chatter surrounding free agency and potential player trades. Here’s the latest as we move towards the midway point of the combine.

To follow up on my report from Friday’s podcast about a potential Jacoby Brissett trade, I’ve spoken with several people who feel the Colts would demand a second-round choice for Brissett. If they were to lose him in free agency after the 2019 season, they would likely receive a compensatory third-round pick based on the contract he’s likely to sign; hence the second-round price tag.

Another update from our podcast: many were surprised when I mentioned that Jachai Polite was rated as the No. 2 edge rusher in the draft, ahead of Nick Bosa. This does not mean Polite will be drafted before Bosa, as I explained during the podcast, which you can listen to here. I’m told the Green Bay Packers really like Polite at this point in the process, and we had them selecting the Florida junior during our mock draft immediately after the Super Bowl.

Much of this also depends on what the Packers do in free agency. I continue to hear Green Bay will target pass rushers in free agency, something we initially reported during our podcast on February 7.

Free agent Trey Flowers was again connected to the Miami Dolphins by multiple sources I spoke with Friday night. It is by no means a done deal -- let’s make that clear -- but as they say, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. The pass-rush-needy Detroit Lions are another franchise whose name has been mentioned as having interest in Flowers.
