Bio:
Three-year starter who missed most of the 2017 season with an elbow injury but earned an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game. Named Big Sky Defensive of the Year as a junior and made 70 tackles (6.5 for loss) with three interceptions, 1.5 sacks, a team-high two forced fumbles and eight pass breakups. Earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors and recorded 71 tackles (7.5 for loss), one interception, one sack, one forced fumble and three PBUs in 2015. Started 10 games as a redshirt freshman and posted 59 tackles (five for loss) with one interception and five pass breakups. Broke his hand upon arriving at North Dakota and redshirted the 2013 season.
Pos:
Nice-sized safety who was dominant at the small-school level. Instinctive, very effective facing the action and plays heads-up football. Tracks the pass in the air and shows a nice move to the throw and good hands for the interception. Effectively picks up coverage assignments, does a good job in center field and has a nice move to the throw. Flies around the football and sells out to make plays. Explosive, possesses a terrific closing burst and drives through tackles. Jars the ball loose with big hits and wraps up tackling.
Neg:
More of a one-speed defensive back and loses out in foot races. Average quickness. Has an injury history that must be checked out and was limited to four games last year.
Analysis:
Reyes has the size and skill to line up as a traditional strong safety or be used in a zone system. He must stay healthy and improve the finer points of his position, but he could start in the right system if all goes well.
