Bio:
First-year starter who earned Second Team All-ACC honors in 2016 with 50 receptions for 668 yards and eight touchdowns. Made three starts as a junior and caught 19 passes for 348 yards and three scores. Started his career at Sacramento State before moving to City College of San Francisco for the 2014 season and transferring to Louisville later that year.
Pos:
Terrific pass catching tight end whose game caught fire last season. Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage, uses his hands to separate from opponents and comes back to the ball to make himself an available target. Effectively times receptions, gets vertical then contorts to grab the ball from the air. Lays out or extends for the difficult catch, fights for the ball in a crowd or goes over the middle of the field and makes the tough reception. Gives effort as a blocker showing the ability to adjust or redirect to linebackers on the 2nd level.
Neg:
Has a long thin build, shows poor strength at the point of attack and does little more than get in the way as a blocker. Gets narrow-based in his setup.
Analysis:
Hikutini elevated his game in 2016 and is a tall, thin pass catching tight end who consistently gets down the field creating mismatches in the secondary. He needs to improve his blocking and physically mature but could produce for a team that lines him up as a move tight end.
