Pos:
Massive college right tackle who may be best at guard on Sundays. Powerful, jolts defenders with violent hand punch and easily controls opponents at the point of attack. Has tremendous size and girth and is effective when he bends his knees and blocks with leverage. Shows the ability to recover against explosive defenders who get the first step on him, possesses good vision and keeps his feet moving. Makes excellent use of angles in pass protection, fluidly gets to the second level and easily takes opponents from the action or engulfs them all together. Blocks with a nasty attitude and plays to his size.
Neg:
Lacks balance and lateral agility and really doesn’t sink his butt or consistently bend his knees. Struggles to redirect to linebackers at the second level.
Analysis:
Ford was absolutely dominant in a small area at right tackle for Oklahoma and went on to show surprising athleticism during combine workouts. He may have a future at right tackle in the NFL, but I like him better at guard. If he’s focused and used correctly, Ford could be a productive starter for a long time at the next level.
