Bio:
Two-year starter who earned First Team All-Southland honors and tied for the team lead with three forced fumbles while adding 53 tackles (12.5 for loss) and 5.5 sacks in 2017. Led Central Arkansas with seven sacks and made 35 tackles (11.5 for loss) with one forced fumble and three pass breakups as a junior. Combined to record 39 tackles (5.5 for loss) and three sacks in his first two seasons with the Bears.
Pos:
Athletic and explosive one-gap linebacker. Quick, agile and fires to the action. Breaks down well, effectively uses his hands and shows the ability to disengage from blocks and keep his feet. Fluid lateral mover in pursuit of the action, remains disciplined with assignments and shows speed in every direction. Has a closing burst and cuts off the corners from ball carriers. Gives effort against the run.
Neg:
Struggles to get off blocks once engaged and can be engulfed at the point. Has growth limitations. Lack of height will result in mismatches on passing downs.
Analysis:
Chambers is a fast, athletic run-and-chase linebacker with potential in a variety of schemes. He offers possibilities as a backup on the inside of a 3-4 alignment and as a traditional weakside linebacker and should be an asset on coverage units.
