Bio:
Three-year starter who made 66 tackles (8.5 for loss) with six sacks and five pass breakups as a defensive end in 2017 to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Redshirted the 2016 season after suffering a season-ending knee injury during camp. Started 10 games at defensive tackle and posted 35 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble as a junior. Made 13 starts at defensive tackle and recorded 40 tackles (four for loss) and 2.5 sacks in 2014.
Pos:
Underrated defensive tackle who comes off a tremendous senior campaign. Intense, stays with the action and works hard. Plays with outstanding pad level, displays quickness in his overall game and moves well in space. Instinctive, quickly gets outside the box to chase the action and shows a good head for the ball. Slides off blocks to make plays against the run and has a closing burst as a pass rusher.
Neg:
Not a strong wrap-up tackler. Lacks great strength at the point of attack. Marginal pass rusher until his senior season.
Analysis:
LaCouture returned to prior form after his 2016 injury and was productive in all areas of the game. He’s underrated in the scouting community and will be a steal in the late rounds of the draft if he passes medical exams.
