Bio:
Two-year starter who made 55 tackles (4.5 for loss) with two sacks as a senior. Led the Spartans with 96 tackles (four for loss) in 2016. Combined to make 42 tackles (five for loss) and post 2.5 sacks during his first two seasons with the team.
Pos:
Underrated linebacker with a solid game. Fierce, shows speed moving up the field and works hard to make plays. Quick scraping laterally and displays good change of direction and the ability to immediately alter his angles of attack. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, displays speed in pursuit and quickly transitions into coverage. Plays to his 40 time and runs downfield with tight ends and running backs.
Neg:
Not a secure tackler. Gets caught up in the trash.
Analysis:
Frey does not meet the eyeball test but plays fast, productive football and could line up at the next level as a nickel linebacker and special-teams player.
