Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and Second Team FCS All-America while leading the conference with 1,648 yards and 20 rushing scores and adding 31 receptions for 383 yards and five TDs as a sophomore. Earned FCS Rookie of the Year honors in 2014 and rushed 294 times for 1,838 yards and 23 touchdowns, all of which led the Patriot League.
Pos:
Smooth, quick and creative ball carrier who’s best suited as a situational runner at the next level. Possesses the agility and quickness necessary to turn the corner and displays outstanding footwork. Avoids piles and makes defenders miss. Shows great vision, picks and chooses his spots on the inside and effectively follows blocks everywhere on the field. Helps the quarterback sell ball fakes, sees the field and finds ways to squeeze through small openings and pick up positive yardage. Easily cuts back against the grain without losing momentum and has burst that he turns on in a single step. Solid pass catcher who snatches the ball away from his frame with his hands.
Neg:
Does not play big football. Easily brought down at the point of attack by the initial defender and loses out in battles for receptions. Must pick up his intensity as a blocker. Struggled with injury last year.
Analysis:
When hitting on all cylinders and at the top of his game, Edmonds projects as a third-down back and situational ball carrier who can produce in a variety of roles. He’s dangerous in the open field, but Edmonds must pick up the overall physical nature of his game.
