Bio:
Three-year starter who earned Second Team All-America honors and led Auburn with 11 pass breakups while making 36 tackles with one interception and one forced fumble as a junior. Matched the team lead with 10 pass breakups and posted 46 tackles and one forced fumble in 2016. Led the team with three interceptions and recorded 56 tackles, one forced fumble and eight PBUs as a true freshman.
Pos:
Nice-sized corner with a developing game. Physical, engages receivers at the line of scrimmage and mixes it up throughout the route. Plays to his size, has a burst to the ball and effectively times pass defenses. Stays with coverage assignments, keeps receivers in front of him and beats down opponents to defend the throw. Possesses outstanding hands for the interception. Fires up the field to defend running plays and screen passes and works hard to get involved in the action.
Neg:
Slow to locate the pass in the air and struggles to make plays with his back to the ball. Cannot stay on the receiver’s hip out of breaks.
Analysis:
Davis has next-level size and athleticism and developing ball skills. Presently he’s best in a zone system or backed off the line of scrimmage, and Davis must improve his play in man coverage to be a long-time starter at the next level.
