Skilled defensive back with the versatility to line up at cornerback or safety. Smooth pedaling in reverse, fluid flipping his hips and plays faster than his 40 time. Shows the ability to recover from mistakes, displays aggression in all aspects of his game and has a closing burst. Rarely challenged by opponents and does a solid job locking down receivers. Quick up the field defending running plays and screens, wraps up ball carriers and is a secure open-field tackler.
Occasionally bites on receivers’ moves and blows coverage assignments. Struggles making plays with his back to the ball. Not forceful on the blitz.
Sutton had been a consistent cornerback for Tennessee prior to his injury, then showed the ability to play safety during Senior Bowl practices. He’s a solid three-down player most effective in a zone system or backed off the line of scrimmage where he’s facing the action.
