Rotational receiver who broke out as a senior, stepping up for an injured Mack Hollins. Named Honorable Mention All-ACC after making 53 receptions for 827 yards and eight touchdowns, including three straight 100-yard games immediately after Hollins’ injury. Caught 29 passes for 488 yards and four touchdowns as a junior in 2015. Posted 42 catches for 455 yards and two scores as a sophomore.
Tall, productive receiver who took his game to another level as a senior. Sized well, exposes himself to make the tough catch and uses his frame to shield defenders. Knows where he is on the field, uses the sidelines well and keeps the play in bounds running after the catch. Comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, gets vertical in a crowd and makes the reception with defenders draped on him. Catches the ball in stride with his hands and flashes natural pass-catching skill. Tough to bring down running after the catch.
Needs to improve his blocking. Lacks deep burst or a second gear. Shows inconsistency in his game.
After flashing skill early in college, Howard showed improved consistency as a senior. He possesses the athletic ability and size/speed numbers to develop into a third or fourth receiver if he continues to improve his game.
