Pos:
Creative ball carrier who comes off a significant injury. Patient, waits for blocks to develop and shows great vision. Possesses burst, runs with authority and consistently runs north/south. Uses blocks all over the field, possesses the quickness and agility necessary to turn the corner and picks up big chunks of yardage. Multi-cut ball carrier with the ability to string several moves together over the course of a single run and make multiple defenders miss. Squeezes through small openings in the line and plays with tremendous quickness. Easily changes direction without losing momentum. Will pick and choose his spots, weaves through the traffic and runs with balance and body control. Shows the ability to beat defenders into the open field and run to daylight. Solid pass catcher who quickly gets into the flat, adjusts to the errant throw and makes the reception away from his frame.
Neg:
Doesn’t pick up a lot of yardage off initial contact or break tackles. Had a huge workload at Stanford prior to his injury.
Analysis:
Love bypassed being a top-45 pick in the 2018 draft and returned to Stanford with the hopes of a Heisman Trophy campaign. He struggled early in the year with an injury, missed several games and eventually tore a knee ligament that required surgery. Love is now late-round pick who must show he can rebound to prior form. If all goes well, he will be a solid situational ball carrier and third-down back at the next level.
