Bio:
Two-year starter who was limited to five starts in 2016 due to ankle and thumb injuries, making 19 tackles (2.5 for loss). Posted 45 tackles (10.5 for loss), 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles as a junior in 2015. Recorded 29 tackles (six for loss) and four sacks in 2014.
Pos:
Streaky and inconsistent lineman with good bloodlines. Breaks down well, plays with consistent knee bend and keeps his feet moving. Works his hands throughout the action and displays excellent athleticism and movement skills. Fast off the edge, quickly changes direction and covers a lot of area on the field. Can be a force when motivated. Drops into space on zone blitzes and does an admirable job.
Neg:
Marginally instinctive and slow locating the ball at times. Disappears for long stretches. At times can be controlled by lesser opponents.
Analysis:
Cox was handed mid-round grades by scouts entering the season yet was a non-factor in games and never met expectations. He possesses the underlying physical skills to play at the next level but is a prospect who must significantly turn up the intensity and play hard on every snap.
